The Good:
* This book is just fucking funny. The dual POV is perfect and both MCs have hilarious thoughts. You may not get a comedy vibe from the blurb/cover but this was actually really lighthearted and amusing in my opinion.
* The MMC. aka the FMC’s dead uncle, is completely unhinged. He’s a complete bully, an asshole and possessive. He’s got severe mommy issues and a very twisted sense of humor. So, ideal for a dark romance MMC.
* While this is a romance between a niece and her dead uncle, it doesn’t feel so gross because 1. They never met because he died before she was born 2. He died at a young age so they meet at a time that they’re at the same age
The Meh:
* I mean, I could have done without the incest. It didn’t put me off, though. I’ve read much worse than what’s in these pages. You’ll definitely find some shock factor here.
Bottom Line:
It’s like a triple x Casper, if Casper was your uncle who had unalived himself in his 20s so you never met. Casper also has a violent noncon streak but still extremely obsessed with you (you’re Kat in this scenario). I mean honestly, if you were ever obsessed with the ending of the movie Casper where he turns into Devon Sawa this might be your roman empire. That being said, I was. Obsessed with the ending of Casper where he dances with Kat as Devon Sawa, I mean. So much so, that I made it a point to watch any movie that he was in after that. I loved it and if you’re like me, you will too. The lighthearted vibe of this balances out the taboo ick for me. I say write a sequel about the bestie, I’ll read it.
