Primary Genre: Dark Romance

Favorite Quote: “She tastes like hope and self-destruction. Two opposing forces that shouldn’t coexist, but she does.”

Blurb: Declan Pierce is a bully and a sadist. He’s been my enemy since birth, and he’s made my life a living hell. But when my father barters me in an arranged marriage, Declan proposes a deal I can’t refuse. After all, so long as Declan owns my soul, it can’t be sold to another… But it turns out Declan wants more than I bargained for. My body, my submission, the truth behind what sent me to Montgomery Psychiatric Ward three years ago. And he’ll haunt every facet of my existence until he gets it. I thought death was the only truly inescapable thing. After all, nothing is eternal… except maybe him.

The Good:

* This author dives head first into dealing with mental health and self harm issues rather than shying away from it or tiptoeing around it. That being said, check the trigger warnings before picking this book up. I appreciate that dealing with the FMC’s mental health issues are part of the plot. It also made the book incredible captivating.

* Declan is a book boyfriend to end all book boyfriends. I love nothing more than a revenge plot and this guy knows how to dole it out and he likes doing it. He’s clearly not mentally stable either, which makes his odd attempts at wooing Teal that much more entertaining.

* This book is very plot heavy and the plot stands on its own. So many dark romance/horror romance books are super heavy on the smut. Don’t get me wrong, there’s some demented smut in this book. But it’s not every single chapter and the author came to tell a story. It’s a good one.

* I didn’t realize when I signed up for this ARC that this is book 3 of a series, however it can be read on its own easily. It’s a great book so I’m definitely going to go back and read the first two. The next book tells the story of FMC’s friend Patience’s brother Alex and I honestly NEED to read it because I have to know that happened to him at Sigma Sin.

The Meh:

* I honestly can’t think of one. I’m guess this means I’m an Eva Simmons fan now.

Bottom Line:

If you like enemies to lovers, touch her and ☠️, fake dating, and dark romance, you’ll for sure be into this. This book is well written, the plot is fantastic and twisted, and I thought that the ending was great. I’m on board to read the next book and I bet you will be too if you pick this up.
